I started the  blog in Spring 2010, with the intention of writing monthly…and before we know it , it is  2011!

We’ve had a very busy year looking after our guests ,a big thank you to all of you that stayed with us at Cropvale and especially those who wrote us reviews on Trip Advisor… much appreciated.

I have taken lots of photo’s  in 2010 to share with you. It was a bumper year for apples , the Bramley tree was laden, added to the plentiful supply of blackberries, (Twix, however doesn’t  like blackberry picking as it involves too much stopping on a walk!)

I have made extensive amounts of blackberry and apple jam for breakfast, cake filling and have plenty  of apples ready to make into apple cake , for you to enjoy on your arrival;

I have been experimenting with bread recipes and will be making homemade breads including soda bread ,wholemeal with sunflower seeds and honey with mixed seeds. I hope you enjoy it .

We will be offering a specials board to compliment the main choices, including smoked haddock fish cakes, goats cheese with baked tomatoes on toasted homemade bread  and will try apple pancakes when the next apple harvest is in.

January is marmalade making season, with plenty of chopping and juicing, but  worth the effort. Hope to see you for breakfast!

The walk from the farm is picturesque in any season , but in the snow it is quite magical…

A view from Smokey Lane.

The animals don’t seem to mind the weather.

All the bedrooms are being repainted by Roger and Ben.They are looking very fresh with 4 completed already. Penmore ,Woolams and Darnells are having new curtains and recovered headboards in Laura Ashley material, ready for the new season.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year .

Best Wishes,

Sue
