Happy New Year to you all, lets hope it will be a happy and healthy one for us all.

Cropvale has exciting plans for 2012. We have started construction on a spacious ,two bedroomed luxury log cabin. The base is finished and completion of the lodge will be by the end of February. We are now taking bookings , for April onwards. The Laura Ashley bedroom furniture, beds and fabrics have been ordered as have the leather sofas. The lodge has a large lounge that leads out to the deck that has fantastic views of Bredon Hill. Ideal to sit on having a cup of tea or a cool glass of wine, relaxing in the peace and quiet, enjoying the surrounding viewsImage

The Bed and Breakfast is having it’s annual paint ,with Elmley Room having a total revamp.New curtains , lamps, cushions and pictures. It is going to be lovely,I do get very excited planning the rooms!

A WINTER WARMER SPECIAL OFFER is on for February and March.Stay for 3 consecutive nights between 3rd February  and 31st March and we will offer you a complimentary winter warmer hotpot supper with seasonal vegetables and a glass of wine, eaten by the cosy log burner.

For the more active of you , there are lovely walks directly from the farm , so no need to use the car .Here are some pictures I took yesterday whilst walking Twix, which now with his old bones can only involve a very leisurely stroll.ImageImageImageThe ducks were definitely posing for me!

Bye for now

Sue

I started the  blog in Spring 2010, with the intention of writing monthly…and before we know it , it is  2011!

We’ve had a very busy year looking after our guests ,a big thank you to all of you that stayed with us at Cropvale and especially those who wrote us reviews on Trip Advisor… much appreciated.

I have taken lots of photo’s  in 2010 to share with you. It was a bumper year for apples , the Bramley tree was laden, added to the plentiful supply of blackberries, (Twix, however doesn’t  like blackberry picking as it involves too much stopping on a walk!)

I have made extensive amounts of blackberry and apple jam for breakfast, cake filling and have plenty  of apples ready to make into apple cake , for you to enjoy on your arrival;

I have been experimenting with bread recipes and will be making homemade breads including soda bread ,wholemeal with sunflower seeds and honey with mixed seeds. I hope you enjoy it .

We will be offering a specials board to compliment the main choices, including smoked haddock fish cakes, goats cheese with baked tomatoes on toasted homemade bread  and will try apple pancakes when the next apple harvest is in.

January is marmalade making season, with plenty of chopping and juicing, but  worth the effort. Hope to see you for breakfast!

The walk from the farm is picturesque in any season , but in the snow it is quite magical…

A view from Smokey Lane.

The animals don’t seem to mind the weather.

All the bedrooms are being repainted by Roger and Ben.They are looking very fresh with 4 completed already. Penmore ,Woolams and Darnells are having new curtains and recovered headboards in Laura Ashley material, ready for the new season.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy New Year .

Best Wishes,

Sue

Spring has sprung … or has it ? Tonight’s temperature has been estimated to be as low as -1 0C . Luckily, the plum blossom is nearly

over but the apple is in full bloom.

The Plum festival in Pershore launches on 31st June until 30 th August. A lively event with plum tastings advice and sales. Wychavon has an excellent website www.wychavon.gov.uk/cms/business-and-planning/market-towns/pershore/pershore/events.aspx  ! Not an address you will remember off by heart , but well worth a look for dates and information.

My father in law has a nifty gift for making things out of recycled materials. He has whipped up a nesting box for the Moorhens to protect the eggs and chicks from Magpies that have caused trouble in the past. He asked us to save our empty milk bottles to aid ballast as it was in danger of sinking. Must have been successful as Roger saw an egg in there this morning.

I think one of the most exciting events of spring is when the cattle go out for the first time after being inside for winter. They literally spring into the field, then run from one end of the field to the other several times, trampling the grass which by then would be absolutely tasteless !

Bye for now,

Sue
